Snow Mountain is the second highest mountain in Taiwan. It is located at the junction of Tai'an Township, Miaoli County and Heping Township, Taichung County.

The snow-capped mountain is the central point of the snow-capped mountain range, from which it extends radially outward, and the branches stretch across northern Taiwan. The whole mountain is composed of auburn shale, sandstone and slate. There are many "ice bucket" terrains in the snow-capped mountain area, which is the place with the most glacial relics in Taiwan.

In 1867, the British warship Shiluvia passed through the waters of Taiwan. It is said that the captain named the mountain "Shiluvia" after the ship when he visually discovered the towering snow-capped mountains. In early Western documents, the snow-capped mountains were called Mt. Shiluvia. In 1872, Dr. Ma Kai once entered the snow-capped mountains and mountains. On July 10, Taisho 4th year (1915), a surveyor named Caijin Hiseidai, who was affiliated to the "Fan Affairs Office", passed through the Pei Ya Nanshe (now Nanshan Village). South Saddle (now Siyuan Pass), from the ridge line of the east peak of the snow-capped mountain, successfully climbed the main peak of the snow-capped mountain, and measured a height of 12,972 feet, which is higher than the highest peak in Japan, Mount Fuji.

The main reason for the formation of snow-capped mountains is high altitude. There is a law on the earth's surface. As the altitude rises, the air becomes thinner and thinner, the air flow is more intense, and the temperature is lower. Generally, for every 1000 meters of rise, the temperature drops by 6 degrees Celsius. If a mountain is at a high altitude, such as 6,000 meters, it is about 36 degrees Celsius cooler than sea level. This temperature is easily a temperature below zero. Due to the terrain, water vapor will be blocked by the terrain and turn into precipitation. If the temperature is low, it may turn into snow. When the snow falls on the mountain, because the temperature is extremely low for many years (it is likely to be below zero all year round), then the snow will not melt. The snow-capped mountains appeared.

The snow-capped mountain is like a quiet patron saint, so close to the homeland of mankind. It seems that you can confide to her whatever you have on your mind, and you can whisper to her what you wish. It is a kind of great beauty, so beautiful that it does not need any decoration or any language. The color of a little rock appeared under the snow, like the smile of the snow-capped mountains, warming all eyes staring at her. The pure and flawless blue sky reflects the holy light of the top of the mountain, and it looks so broad, as if it is the arm of the snow-capped mountains, hugging all the people who are intoxicated by this scenery.
