There are many beautiful lighthouses in the world. They were originally built this way.


1. Godrevy Lighthouse is located on Godrevy Island, Cornwall, England, built in 1859, 26 meters high. It was the inspiration for Virginia Woolf's "To the Lighthouse".


2. Torre de Hércules Hagrista - located in La Coruña, northern Spain. Torre de Hércules is the tower of Hercules, the Greek mythological god of strength, which was renovated in 1791. The tower has a museum and a sculpture park with stone sculptures from the Iron Age, which was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2009.


3. Tourists Lighthouse - located on the island of Andros in the Cyclades, Greece. The island of Andros is located in the middle of the Aegean Sea. Built in 1897, it is 7 meters high. Fantastic rock stairs, and a lonely lighthouse. All of them show their uniqueness.


4. La Jument Lighthouse - Located on a rocky outcrop in Brittany, northwestern France, it was built in 1904 and completed in 1911. After Guichard took a shocking photo of the tower in 1989, the lighthouse was automated in 1991. It is no longer manned.


The French film "The Watchman" is a true re-creation of the life of the tower keeper.


5. Bengtskär Lighthouse is located in the archipelago about 30 km southwest of Hanko, Finland. 1906, the tower is 46 meters high and 52 meters above sea level. It is the highest lighthouse in the Nordic countries. There is a hotel below the lighthouse and the hotel has a sauna.


It is open from June to September every year and is visited by about 13,000 to 15,000 tourists. That means about 1500 people per day. And the area of the island is only 2 hectares.


6. Dyrhólaeyjarviti Lighthouse - Located at the southernmost tip of Iceland, on the Dyrhólaey cape, the lighthouse was first built in 1910 on a steel frame and in 1927 on square concrete, with a height of 13 meters. In summer, the lighthouse is an excellent place to observe Puffin.


The Dihorari headland is also famous for its sea-rock arch and black sand beach. However, the lighthouse is not open to the public.


7. Garoskaji Old Lighthouse is located in Garður, southwest of Iceland, in the fishing-rich town of Gardur. Built in 1897, it is 11.4 meters high and is now used as a research centre for migratory birds, and a new tower was built in 1944 to replace its lighthouse function, standing 28.6 meters high.


A cylindrical concrete tower with a four-way rotating lens at the top, the new tower was also decommissioned in 2016 and converted into a museum. The tower has a café, a restaurant nearby, and a breathtaking view of the Northern Lights.


8. Maspalomas Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of Gran Canaria, Spain. Built in 1890, the tower is 56 meters high and is a unique landmark of the island, with a restaurant inside the tower.


9. Campen Lighthouse is located on the German island of Schulte. Built in 1855, the tower is 40 meters high. It was the first lighthouse in the world to use oil lanterns. Led the technological revolution and was automated in 1977.


The lighthouse design, traditional German architecture, the surrounding idyllic scenery, and red sand cliffs are all fascinating.


10. Phare du Créac'h is located on Ushant Island in the Ponant Islands, France. Built in 1863, it became the brightest lighthouse in Europe after it was electrified in 1888. The light range is up to 60 km and the height is 54 meters.


Together with Phare de Nividic and La Jument, it is one of the three major lighthouses in Brittany. It was also the first pioneer to master various lighthouse technologies.
