About 380,000 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year.

"Dental health has long been neglected in global health," but many dental issues are "preventable," the WHO chief said.
The report shows that three-quarters of people with dental issues live in low and middle-income countries. High out-of-pocket spending and a lack of highly specialized dental equipment in primary care are the two main reasons for the high prevalence of dental issues particularly in poorer countries, according to the report.
